A bachelor's or higher from an accredited American college or university. We see the diploma and the transcript, and we ask the registrar.
A state teaching license, or a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA of at least 120 hours with real classroom practice. We check it with the issuer.
An FBI Identity History Summary or a state police check, dated within the last twelve months. Anything involving children, violence or drugs ends it.
A US citizen who grew up speaking English in the United States, and a twenty-minute video call with Ben, in English, before the name goes up.

Thai or English, either is fine. It goes to Ben, not to a list. He reads it, matches it, and replies within a few days with one to three names — or with "not yet", honestly.

For schools hiring for a post: the teacher still needs a non-immigrant B visa, a work permit and, for a school, a teacher license or waiver from the Teachers' Council of Thailand. Those are between you, the teacher and the ministries; the checklist is here, and it is the one we give teachers, so you will both be reading the same page.
None published yet, as of October 18, 2026 — no teacher has completed all four checks. The first goes up the day the fourth check clears, with the date, and the list will only ever be as long as the people who passed.
